How to get an accurate quote

A quote is only as good as the information behind it. To get numbers you can actually rely on:

• Be specific about what you're moving. Home size is a starting point, but flag heavy or specialty items — a piano, a hot tub, a gun safe, lots of books — since they change the price.
• Mention access at both ends. Stairs, elevators, long carries from the door to the truck, and tight or distant parking all add time or fees. Surprises on moving day come from access no one asked about.
• Ask for a binding or not-to-exceed estimate based on a real inventory — an in-home or video survey for larger moves — so the price can't balloon later.
• Confirm what's included. Packing and materials, disassembly and reassembly, valuation coverage, and any travel or fuel fees should all be spelled out.
• Compare like-for-like. Make sure each quote covers the same services before you judge them on price. The middle bid from a well-reviewed crew usually beats the lowball.
