MoversChecker is free to use. To support our research, we may earn compensation in two ways:
- Quote requests. When you submit the quote form, we may connect you with moving companies that serve your route, and we may be paid a referral fee if you're matched or hire one.
- Advertising. Some pages may include paid placements. Any such placement is clearly labeled as advertising.
How quote matching works
When you fill out the quote form, we use the details you provide — your route, home size, and date — to match you with moving companies that serve your area. If you're matched with a mover, or go on to hire one, we may receive a referral fee. That fee is how a free site pays for its research. It does not change which movers we rank highly, and it doesn't cost you anything: you're never charged to use MoversChecker or to receive quotes, and you're under no obligation to book anyone.
How advertising is labeled
If a page ever carries a paid placement, it is clearly marked as advertising and kept visually separate from our editorial rankings and guides. We don't disguise ads as recommendations. Our reviews and city rankings are editorial content, produced independently of any advertising relationship.
The wall between money and rankings
Compensation never affects our editorial rankings. Which movers we recommend, and in what order, is determined entirely by the methodology on our How We Rate Movers page — real review data, review volume, licensing, and complaint patterns. A company cannot pay to be listed, ranked higher, or featured. If a mover that pays a referral fee has weak reviews, it ranks poorly; if a mover we earn nothing from is the best in its city, it ranks first. That separation is the whole point of the site.
Your choices and your data
Submitting the quote form is entirely optional — you can read every review, guide, and cost estimate without giving us anything. When you do submit it, your details go only to matched, licensed movers so they can prepare a quote; we don't sell your information for unrelated purposes. If you'd rather contact movers directly, every review lists the company and links to its own site.
We are an independent review site and are not affiliated with any moving company. Always verify a mover's licensing and insurance directly, and check interstate authority on the FMCSA SAFER system. Our full standards are on the editorial policy page.
Common questions
Is MoversChecker really free?
Yes. You're never charged to read reviews and guides or to request quotes. The site is funded by referral fees and clearly-labeled advertising, not by you.
Do you sell my personal information?
No. When you submit the quote form, your details go to the movers matched to your route so they can prepare a quote. We don't sell your information to unrelated marketers.
Does a mover that pays you rank higher?
No. Rankings are determined by verified review data, review volume, licensing, and complaint patterns — not by any commercial relationship. A mover with weak reviews ranks poorly whether or not we earn a referral from it.
Is advertising labeled?
Yes. Any paid placement is clearly marked as advertising and kept separate from editorial rankings and guides.
Do I have to use the quote form?
No. Every review, ranking, guide, and cost estimate is free to read without submitting anything. The form is there if you want us to match you with movers — but you can always contact a company directly from its review page instead.
Are the links in your guides affiliate links?
Some outbound links may earn us a referral fee, and many — like links to the FMCSA SAFER system or a state regulator — earn us nothing and exist purely to help you verify something. Either way, a link is never a paid endorsement: we point you to a source because it's the right one to cite, not because of any commercial relationship behind it.
Why disclose all this?
Because trust is the only thing that makes a review site worth using. You should know exactly how we make money and be able to confirm for yourself that it doesn't bend our recommendations. If it ever did, the site would be worthless — to you and to us.
