Step 1 / 3

Where are you moving?

Get matched with up to 4 licensed movers in about 60 seconds — free, no obligation.

Hiring a mover is one of those decisions where the stakes are high and the information is bad. Company websites all say the same things, review counts can be gamed, and the cheapest quote often turns into the most expensive move. MoversChecker exists to cut through that.

We focus on one region we can cover in depth — Idaho, Oregon, and Washington — and rank moving companies city by city using real Google and Yelp review data, licensing records, and the themes in recent customer reviews. We read the reviews so you don't have to.

We don't move you, and we're not affiliated with any moving company. When you request quotes through the site, we connect you with vetted movers who serve your route. Our rating methodology is public, and so is our advertising disclosure.

What we do

MoversChecker is a research tool, not a moving company. For each city we cover, we pull every mover that ranks in Google's local results, confirm it's a real, active local business, and rank the field on its verified Google star rating and total review count. Then we read the newest reviews — not just the headline number — to surface what customers actually report: whether crews show up on time, handle belongings carefully, price honestly, and how the company responds when something goes wrong. The result is a city-by-city shortlist you can trust, plus the option to get free quotes from vetted movers when you're ready to hire.

What we don't do

We don't invent ratings, prices, review counts, or license numbers — when we don't have a verified figure, we say so, and cost ranges are always labeled as estimates. We don't claim to have personally hired or "mystery shopped" every company; our analysis is built on real, public review data and public records. And we don't sell rankings. No mover can pay to be listed, ranked higher, or featured. Which companies we recommend, and in what order, is determined entirely by the data.

Why just the Pacific Northwest

Plenty of national directories list movers everywhere and know them nowhere. We made the opposite bet: cover Idaho, Oregon, and Washington in depth rather than the whole country thinly. That regional focus lets us get the details right — which state agency licenses movers (the Washington UTC, the Oregon DOT, or, in Idaho, no state license at all), how seasonal demand spikes along the I-5 corridor, and which local crews consistently earn their reputations. It's the difference between a directory and a guide.

How we stay free

The site is free to use, and it always will be. To fund the research, we may earn a referral fee when we match you with a mover, and any advertising on the site is clearly labeled. Neither ever affects our rankings — a company cannot buy a better spot. The full breakdown is on our advertising disclosure page, and the standards behind every ranking and guide are on our editorial policy page.

Who it's for

MoversChecker is built for the person in the middle of a stressful move who just wants a straight answer: who are the good movers here, what should this cost, and how do I avoid getting burned? Whether you're renting your first apartment across town, relocating a family to a new state, or downsizing after decades in one house, the job is the same — and so is the goal of this site: give you the honest shortlist and the context to choose well, then get out of your way.

How to get the most out of MoversChecker

If you're just starting, three pages do most of the work. Our city-by-city reviews rank the vetted crews near you; the cost calculator turns your home size and route into a ballpark budget; and the guides cover the questions that come up before every move, from how far ahead to book to how to spot a scam. When you're ready for real numbers, the quote form matches you with licensed movers who serve your route — free, and with no obligation to book.

Questions, corrections, or a mover we've missed? Get in touch — we read every message and update pages when something's out of date.
